The gold rolex presented to JFK from Marilyn Monroe on the night of the famous madison square garden gala was auctioned off for $120,000. Monroe died two months later after overdosing on sleeping pills. The 36-year-old actress was found naked and face down on a bed in her California home. Her death was ruled a "probable suicide."

This supports my theory that watches given as gifts are a kiss of death to relationships. You might as well just give your sweetums a post it note saying "it's over". This has happened to me several times, ulitimately, within 4 months, splitsville. I guess it's not as bad as ending up dead, face down and naked though. Uhg.
